Donor’s approach

Coherence of the project with Austrian funding priorities.

The project reflects the geographic and thematic priorities of the Austrian Development Policy shown in ADA’s current call for CGIAR proposals. Specifically, it addresses two of the four thematic priorities: Sustainable increase in food production and agricultural productivity and Strengthening institutions and fostering policy development. It is clear that, based on per capita consumption statistics, potato is an important food security crop, particularly in the highlands where poverty is most acute. The proposed project will support several institutions in Georgia with evidence for policy, new technologies, and capacity building, which can help create new linkages with research teams outside the country.
